El Sauzal, is a municipality located in the north of the island of Tenerife, the origin of the name of the municipality is due to the large number of willows that existed in the area, formerly known by the name of El Sauzalejo.
The Church of San Pedro Apóstol and the Hermitage of Los Ángeles, both from the 16th century, are two important examples of the monuments that are still preserved today, in this municipality, which in turn is characterized by its wide range of elite cultural activities. In the municipality there is the Parque de Los Lavaderos and also the Casa del Vino en la Baranda, which has a museum, exhibition center, tasting room, shop and restaurant.
Within the municipal term, its southern end is included within a natural space that encompasses several bordering municipalities, called Laderas de Santa Úrsula, Los Órganos, highlands of the Güímar Valley and Mount La Esperanza. All of it constitutes a wooded area of great scenic and ecological interest.
At the other end of the municipality, on its coastal strip, is the protected natural area of the Cliffs of El Sauzal and Tacoronte, an enclave where numerous seabirds take refuge, being also of botanical interest given the curious endemisms that can be found. Within the Protected Landscape there are also some interesting black sand beaches, such as Los Patos or La Garañona.
